“There are some places in life where you can only go alone. Embrace the beauty of your solo journey “
I’ve been reflecting a lot this week on traveling alone. Talking with some colleagues at a class in Denver, it struck me anew how many people are hesitant to do things alone. And while it can certainly be enjoyable to share an adventure with another person, traveling alone has its merits. Getting to decide when and where to go; not caring about an itinerary; changing your mind last minute; choosing the places you like most; fitting in that tour at the last minute because they can always fit just one more.
Traveling alone affords me time alone with my thoughts. It’s not that I don’t like to travel with others - I do. But I’ve learned to love and yearn for time to myself. Do you have something like that? Your peaceful place or activity?
I’ve mostly been home for a bit. This last week I traveled to Dallas, TX for a 3 day class. It was great to see colleagues from around the U.S. No pickup truck Ubers this time. My Uber from the airport was a Tesla. The driver had a good laugh when I told him about the last Uber there.
Since I was back in Texas I wanted to find some good barbecue. Alas, most places were closed on a Monday night. So a group of us ended up at Marty B’s. It’s a neat place that does live music on weekends (My timing stinks!😂). I made the mistake of going for the lean brisket instead of the “wet” (read fatty) and it was pretty dry. It tasted great though and their BBQ sauce was good. The green chili Mac and cheese was okay but didn’t really have green chilies in it

I narrowly missed Hurricane Beryl, but did enjoy the rain showers and slightly cooler temperatures. Monday was high 80’s and the rest of the week in mid 90’s. Still that’s way cooler than Boise has been. We’re in a terrible record breaking heat wave. And a high fire risk. In fact, Thursday I woke up to rare hazy skies 🌌 n Boise from the fires in Oregon.

While I was gone, my account manager dropped off our new demo system at my house so I can set it up and add images for demos. I took the opportunity to take a peek at my own heart. I don’t image well - so the image is pretty grainy and rough. It’s hard to scan yourself standing up. But here’s a peek at my heart. Consider yourself lucky - most people don’t get to see my heart. 😂😂❤️

Next week is a big travel week. Another week of ping pong time zone! I’m headed to Cleveland Monday thru Thursday for a training class. Thursday night I fly to Missoula, MT for a symposium we’re demoing at Friday. Then Friday night is the flight home. So I’ll be back and forth between Mountain, Central and Pacific time zones again. Fun times!
As always, thanks for reading.

Yeah it's nice to be able to go to different places and visit, that never grows old. What eventually happened to me, after abut 1.5 years of travelling for work, was that I really missed the simple things I could prepare for myself to eat. I'd had the best of options for eating out on each trip, and fully indulged, but after some time that grew old. At the place I was staying I'd eaten everything on their menu at least once! So I craved just being home and having simple stuff like beans on toast :). Still, it was fun while it lasted! Enjoy!
