Learning to be a traveler

There are a lot of hacks for traveling. Things that people in the know do or have to make travel easier and smoother. I'm still learning those things. LOL. For instance, I've learned that packing an empty water bottle and snacks is cheaper than purchasing at the airport. Purchasing TSA precheck is worth it (I'll explain in a minute.) I don't have it yet. If you're renting a car in a snowy area, don't let them give you something without AWD. Don't get non-changeable tickets. Always try for direct flights.

Last week I traveled to Phoenix. I ended up getting stuck in the Denver airport for 6 hours. Fortunately, I had my laptop and was able to get some work done. Unfortunately, by the time I was able to settle down in my hotel in Phoenix, I'd been up for 20 hours straight. When I got to the Boise Airport that morning at 4:30 AM, there was a long line to check my bag. And no one at the ticket counter. They didn't open until 5:30. My flight boarded at 5:50. And I still had to get through security. This is where TSA precheck comes in handy. I'll be getting that soon.....

Another thing about travel is meeting interesting people. I'm an introvert, so I've had to learn how to connect with others. You can meet some cool people though, while waiting for flights. I exchanged numbers in Boise with someone who just might be my first friend here. I sat next to a psych nurse in Phoenix. That was interesting, to say the least.

Phoenix was cool. I didn't have time to explore - but I'd been there before. I did get to have dinner with family - which was delightful. Next week is a few days in LA. Then somewhere in Texas, two weeks in San Diego area, Michigan and New York possibly. I'll try taking more pictures next week. Gotta go repack my suitcase now.

Thanks for reading!
